Children's Book Final

The final for my Children's Book Class involved making a dummy (rough draft) book and illustrating three of the pages. My story involved a rabbit who can't sleep so he goes on an adventure with his turtle friend that brings him into space, until he falls asleep and is faced with the question, "Was it real?"

Childhood Memory

This was an assignment to get us "in touch with our inner child." We were told to illustrate a memory from our childhood. I remember one time my mom let me go and play in a mud puddle in my shorts and a bucket. I think that's the only time I ever did that, or it occurred to me to do that, so it stuck in my mind. Also, there is a photo of me sitting bum down in a ten gallon pale with my legs and head sticking out the top. For the sake of avoiding a very confusing image, I just stuffed the whole of "myself" in the bucket for this illustration.

P.S. I find this image somewhat disgustingly cute.

Underwater Prince

This was a two page spread illustration for my children's book class. The prompt was "imagination" so I got to do whatever I want. I had been on sort of a mini tentacle spree with my doodles and a few illustrations, and while I was finishing this someone said, "That's perfect. It goes along perfectly with the whole octopus trend!" I have since gotten over my tentacle phase.

Paranormal ABCs

X is for X-Rays that light up the night.


Y is for "Yelp;" my issue of fright.


Z is for Zone that the government holds tight.


This was part of an idea for a children's alphabet book. Aside from "Q," X and Z are often the most difficult letters to find words for. Because of this, I decided to start the edition with "X, Y, Z," and just fill in the rest someday. While thinking of "X," I thought, "X-Files;" ergo the paranormal.

Bat, Bat

This illustration was for a Mother Goose nursery rhyme that I thought was really goofy, titled "Bat, Bat." This illustration was done in a two page spread format.
